How To Effectively Use AI In Your Marketing Tactics

What Is AI?

AI stands for ‘artificial intelligence’ and was created to simulate the process of the human brain. AI works via a continuous learning model, meaning it continuously learns new information from direct input, human-to-AI interactions and sourcing from the web. While AI is a general term, there are many popular AI models available for public use such as Google Gemini, Open AI’s Chat GPT, X (formerly known as Twitter) Grok and many more. While AI tools are incredibly powerful and versatile, they also come with limitations that must be understood and carefully managed.

AI Uses

AI can be easily integrated into day-to-day workflows across virtually any field. Whether you are a content creator, a software developer, or an entrepreneur, AI programs offer tools to streamline tasks and accelerate productivity. Some ways AI can be used:

  • Content Generation: AI can assist in writing blogs, articles, marketing copy, and social media posts. It can generate ideas based on a simple and short prompt, or draft text.
  • Image Creation and Editing: AI models are capable of creating highly realistic or stylized images based on text prompts, assisting graphic designers and artists with creative output.
  • Programming and Code Assistance: AI can debug, optimize, or even write code based on prompts, making it a valuable tool for developers looking to automate repetitive tasks or troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Customer Service Automation: Chatbots and virtual assistants powered by AI can handle customer inquiries, process transactions, and provide instant support 24/7.

Understanding Fact Vs Fiction

We’re sure you’ve seen the concerning or silly screenshots. It’s a tale as old as time – Does AI tell the truth? Can AI tell the difference between fact and fiction? The answer is, well, sort of. AI learns from existing data, which can include opinions, biased statements or false information, so they may occasionally provide outputs that are incorrect or misleading. However, this does not mean AI is not reliable. Just remember that while AI can assist in research or writing, it is crucial that a human verifies the information it generates.

Is It Human or AI?

Another factor to keep in mind while using AI is the voice. As Marketers, you know that a business’ voice matters now more than ever. Using AI to write content may seem to be the solution needed when you are not sure what to write, but it comes with a caveat. The content may be sound, but is easily outed when placed next to a human writer. AI often lacks emotion and tone, thus eliminating a voice and identity from the writing. It is also known to utilize bigger-than-necessary words and phrases that your long-time customers will know you don’t use. It could also change the tense and voice of what is written all within the same sentence. Most customers still want that ‘human touch’ when it comes to the advertising they see, so using AI to write your content too much, especially if it is not reviewed before posting, may backfire in your strategy.

Is It Human or AI?

AI is a useful tool and can be very beneficial to your campaigns, however it should be used with caution. There are some guidelines to keep in mind when incorporating AI into your workflow:

  • Review Before Use: Never use AI-generated content without reviewing it before going live. AI may produce text that is factually incorrect, lacks the appropriate tone, or conflicts with your brand’s voice.
  • Fact-Check Thoroughly: As AI can sometimes pull from unreliable sources, it’s essential to verify any factual claims before publishing content.
  • Inject Your Brand’s Voice: AI can help you create a foundation for your content, but it’s vital to inject your own brand identity and personal touch. This ensures that your message resonates with your audience and stays true to your brand’s values.
  • Use AI as a Tool, Not a Replacement: AI can assist in writing and brainstorming, but it should not replace human creativity and critical thinking. The best approach is to see AI as a partner, and use it to enhance your work, but always apply your judgment.
